Kirsten Becken was born in Kleve, Germany in 1982, grew up in an artistic family and studied at Folkwang Hochschule in Essen where she graduated in 2007.In 2017 she published Seeing Her Ghosts at VfmK Verlag. In 2018 she co-founded femalephotographers.org.
