With her series of paintings "L'origine du Monde", Kirsten Becken sketches a feminist homage to Gustave Coubert's scandalous painting "The Origin of the World" from 1866. She plays with nudity and creates political images that are Instagrammable and cleverly circumvent the omnipresent censorship. In her interest lies a new self-evidence of overpowering femininity, in the everyday and in the particular.
